The next morning we checked into the Norwegian Sun. It was a smaller cruise ship with a much older crowd. We wanted to avoid young people drinking. Instead we had people the age of our grandparents getting tipsy at 8 am like it was cool. Fun times, haha! Anyways, the guy above was our guide during our safety brief as soon as we got on board. Had to make sure we knew how to put those things on!
The first night at sea was rough for me because the waves were a bit higher due to a hurricane hitting Puerto Rico. A lot of people had motion sickness. But after that first night, I was pretty much fine. Note to self: Make sure you get lots of sleep before getting on a boat. Helps a lot. Also because of the hurricane, most of our tours except for the last stop were cancelled due to the condition of the water.
This is our first stop: Nassau, Bahamas. As soon as we got off the boat, we were yelled at by everyone wanting us to take their taxis and their tours. This was probably our least favorite stop because it most of the city seemed.... sketch. But we made the most of it.
The guys in the white uniforms were the local police. We were glad they were there.
I totally loved the different colors on the buildings.
Chase and I with a local. I swear there must be a weird pirate outlet store somewhere. I saw this guy like three times.
One of the biggest attractions to Nassau is Atlantis. It's a huge resort that apparently Michael Jackson stayed at for $25,000 a night. There was a bunch a tourists (like us) walking around so I wouldn't want to stay here for a vacation. Seems a little stressful, right?
But Atlantis is really grand.
After exploring Atlantis, we went to a little "Italian" cafe for
As with most of our stops, it ended up raining part of the day. We went back to the ship and watched through the window of our room while we headed back out to sea. You can see Atlantis behind the light house.
By the way, if you're ever going on a cruise and you're debating whether or not to get a room with a window? Get the window. I think it made our motion sickness suck a lot less because we could see what was going on and I could take cool pictures like the above. :)
After another day at sea, we were at our second stop: St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. The above picture is the first view of St. Thomas. We went to the 6th deck to wait to go on the gangway. If you're claustrophobic, crowding the entrance to the gangway is a bad idea. We're not, so it didn't bother us much.
Our boat. It was smallish compared to the others, but it was our home for a week.
Another place where our trips were cancelled. It was rainy the whole day. So, paying a ludicrous amount of money to take to the ropeway to the top of the mountain wasn't really worth it. So we hung out in the town.
This tavern had lots of Americans working there. They were mostly tourists that didn't want to leave.
Chase's burger was the size of his head. Seriously. But he enjoyed it.
The view from our ship's highest deck was awesome at night.
The Carnival Dream looked so cool, but apparently it was way more expensive than our ship.
I ended the day with a very banana-y pineapple drink (I hate bananas). Make sure to ask what's in the drink before you try it.
