Surprise Romantic Weekend Getaway to the Big Easy

I kind of think it's really gross when people gush about their significant others. But, as this is my blog (and you have the option of not reading it), I'm totally going to: My. Husband. Is. AWESOME. The end.
Well, not really the end. He planned an epic weekend getaway for us to New Orleans. He started by telling me things that I was allowed to pack, but not telling me exactly where we were going. I had an inkling of where we were going but I wasn't about to ruin the surprise. :)
On way to New Orleans, we passed Mobile, AL. The city had a quaint skyline at night.
When we arrived in New Orleans, Chase pulled up to a hotel in the French Quarter, the historic Maison Dupuy. It was so cute! We ate at a restaurant outside of the hotel (we should have eaten at the hotel). Chase did a lot of research on Yelp, but alas not all places that have high reviews have good food. It was.....meh. But not because of his lack of research. Afterward we ordered a coffee creme brulee from the hotel's bistro. It was SO good.
The next morning, I looked out of the window and this was our view. ^
While Chase was checking out of the hotel, I took pictures of the hotel's courtyard.

Definitely check out the Maison Dupuy if you're in New Orleans. They have a wicked discount for military members too!
Then we walked around downtown. I totally looked like a tourist with my dslr and my diana hanging around my neck. Yup, I'm the epitome of cool. (sarcasm)
The famed bourbon street. There were so many mardi gras beads. It wasn't really our scene so we kept walking.
Chase was a little disappointed by the restaurant from the previous night, but breakfast here totally made up for it. Cafe Fleur de Lis was cheap and SO good. Get here early as it gets packed pretty quickly.
Trying to walk off breakfast, we found a map and wandered the French Quarter. Then we waited in line for Cafe du Monde. Their famed beignets and cafe au lait was so freaking good (and cheap).

 My cute cup.

Chase had to one up me on the coffee size.
      The beignets. They were perfect.
Then we walked more, so we could eat more. I saw an Urban Outfitters, so I dragged him around the store Chase let me go shopping. ^Chase and the mustache glass. Coolest drink-ware ever.
Then we headed to the brew pub for.... more food! Hahaha. It seems like we do a lot of eating but this is an entire day's worth of walking and eating.
^Baked Brie with Apple chutney with roasted garlic and grapes. Best mid-afternoon snack. Plus we got an endless supply of baguettes. :D
I remembered that the Anne Rice house (I read a lot of her books in high school. So much better than Twilight. Yeah, I went there.) was in New Orleans, so I asked Chase if we could stop by real quick.
All in all, a fantastic trip. The only downside was the way the ridiculous amount of one-way streets. Seriously, what's up with that, New Orleans? So, make sure you have ample travel time in between locations if you're driving. Thank you so much for the sweet getaway, babe!
